Youth Peer Support Groups
The Youth Community Project - Reintegration Support Network Youth Peer Support Group (YPSG) provides youth age 14 - 18 in Orange county who may be experiencing difficulties with truancy, substance use, a mental health diagnosis and/or exposure to the juvenile justice system with an environment of mutual care and ongoing, reliable support.
The YPSG will provide topics for discussion and activities relevant to self-advocacy, building healthy relationships with family and peers as well as positive and creative engagement in the wider community. It is a weekly peer support group facilitated by a certified NC Peer Support Specialist who is trained to engage community youth in discussions and activities consistent with RSN’s core mission.
We will be launching the inaugural Youth Peer Support Group on Monday, June 3rd, 2019 and would like to extend an open invitation to youths within your reach to participate. YPSG will meet weekly for twelve consecutive weeks - place and time TBD and includes topics such as self-care and self-perception to responsibilities, communication and relationships. All youths (14-18), all genders, all ethnicities and all backgrounds are welcomed to attend. Given participation and interest, we are considering a separate group for those who have participated in the initial twelve-week curriculum and would like continuing, facilitated peer support with less structured design.
